Kaya. Ngaji gurrjin. Yuwa. Maiem. Hello and welcome to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander uni students taking part in the Public Sector Vacation Program.

This initiative immerses First Nations students in the public sector with paid work experience across 7 agencies.

We’re pleased to welcome Jett Butcher, a Ballardong Noongar man and Bianca Morgan, a Whadjuk Ballardong and Wilman Noongar woman to the Commission.

Jett is currently studying at Murdoch University and joins our Culture and Improvement team and Bianca, a Curtin University student, is working alongside our Strategic Communications team.

They’re bringing new insights to the work of their teams and contributing to conversations around inclusion and culture - and they’re only one week in!

Good luck to all of the students with their placements.

The Public Sector Vacation Program is a new initiative providing a range of vacation work opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at any WA university.

Every placement includes meaningful work that helps Western Australians, great pay, culturally informed support and the opportunity to learn some of the skills needed to be job ready.
