The alliance with Claremont and Nedlands RSL sub-branches has assisted the Year Six HASS students to learn more about those who have served our country in times of conflict and extended their learning beyond the classroom.
The collaboration has included materials and time donated by Bunnings Claremont and Claremont Showgrounds Community Men’s Shed to produce wooden crosses for the students. This year the focus was on the Crimean and Boer Wars and World War I. Each student placed their decorated cross on the grave and paid their respects.
Wooden crosses were originally used to mark the location of soldiers who died in the field during World War I.
