The Department of Finance has today launched the WA Contract Management Framework (WACMF) and associated Principles, which are designed to strengthen good practice contract management across the public sector.

Finance, in association with the cross-agency Contract Management Interdepartmental Steering Group (CMISG), developed the framework in response to government’s focus on realising social and economic outcomes from good practice contract management.

The supporting WACMF Principles distinguish the different roles of agencies and contract managers when managing government contracts and are focused on five key areas: People, Governance, Practice, Strategy and Performance.

Finance has also developed a new contract management training suite, which will assist public servants in developing their contract management capability.

The training includes online courses for contract manager novices, available now, through to an accredited course for those public servants that manage high value and high risk contracts, available from September.
