Finalists announced for WasteSorted Awards

Today, 37 finalists have been announced for the 2023 WasteSorted Awards in the lead-up to the award ceremony which will be held on 14 September 2023.

The WasteSorted Awards are held annually and acknowledge innovative solutions and excellent performance in reducing waste and meeting targets in WA’s Waste Strategy. 

Nominations were received across 10 categories representing individuals, business and industry, government, schools, community organisations and not-for-profits. 

The categories for 2023 include: 

  • Community Waste Award 

  • Schools Award 

  • Business Award 

  • Waste Champion Individual Award 

  • Waste Champion Team Award 

  • Metro Local Government/Regional Council Award 

  • Regional Local Government/Regional Council Award 

  • Community Engagement Award 

  • Innovation Award 

  • Closing the Loop Award 

Waste Authority Chairperson Elizabeth Carr AM said the awards recognise the hard work of individuals and groups in the community who are going above and beyond to reduce waste. 

“Our aim is to make landfill the last resort and create a low-waste Western Australia.” 

“The entries we have seen across all the categories are inspiring and focus on practical ways of reducing and managing waste,” Ms Carr said. 

“We encourage the community to have a look through the finalists’ projects to get inspiration for some of the things that we can do in our community to make a difference.”
