In the past few months, the DWER Bunbury team has been relocating existing staff in the region to the new office space which allows for better collaboration and space for the team to grow from 58 staff to up to 100 staff.
The new office has upgraded meeting equipment to support staff working both in person and remotely and delivers a modern attractive workplace for staff.
The office also features a new wet and dry laboratory and a secure storage garage for monitoring equipment, vehicles and boats.
Upgrades to the building were completed late last year and the office fit out was delivered by local Bunbury contractor Civilcon (WA) Pty Ltd.
Adam Maskew, South West Regional Manager said the new open-plan office has more meeting rooms and collaboration spaces as well as upgraded technology and equipment to support virtual meetings and communication.
“Communal rooms have been named with the assistance of the Wardandi people using Noongar words as a way of acknowledging and respecting the Traditional Owners of the land on which the office is located,” Mr Maskew said.
Michelle Andrews, Director General DWER said that it was crucial to have office spaces and equipment that support our regional teams.
“The DWER Bunbury team carry out important work in the region including water measurement, water licensing and industrial and waste licensing,” Ms Andrews said.
“The new office will provide an opportunity for better engagement across the agency and with stakeholders in the region. It also reinforces our commitment to having staff based regionally to deliver our work.”
The DWER Bunbury office will officially open this morning at a ceremony attended by the Hon Simone McGurk MLA, Minister for Training; Water; Youth, the Hon Reece Whitby MLA, Minister for Environment; Climate Action; Racing and Gaming, the Director General Michelle Andrews, other DWER staff and key stakeholders in the region.
