DPLH on show at career fairs

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage’s innovative youth employment programs have been promoted to thousands of potential recruits at several career fairs.

The Department participated in career fairs at Curtin University, The University of Western Australia and Murdoch University together with the Public Sector Commission’s A place of opportunity

The Department also attended The Big Meet expo at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers, the expo targets undergraduates and recent graduates. 

With an innovative Graduate Development Program, internships and traineeships, the Department aims to empower young people to develop their personal leadership capabilities, grow their skills and set the foundations for a strong career.    

Our investment in building tomorrow’s leaders is a key priority – helping to develop knowledge, talent and skills will contribute to a sustainable public sector capable of successfully tackling future challenges.   

The Department employs staff across many disciplines including urban planning, architecture, environmentalism, heritage practice, Aboriginal affairs, engineering, law, cartography, economics, finance, human resources, business, administration, IT, communications and design. 

Successful engagement through careers fairs is imperative in reaching our target of 5.8% of our workforce being represented by young people (aged 17– 24) by 2025.
