Registrations are open for Bioenergy Australia’s ‘Western Australia Low Carbon Fuels Summit’ in Perth this month, which will explore opportunities to develop renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel and advanced bioethanol.

WA’s significant natural assets and strategic advantages provide strong foundations for the State to support a sustainable low carbon fuels industry, including renewable energy, land, low carbon intensity feedstocks and advanced agricultural practices.

The summit will showcase advances in low carbon fuels for aviation, marine, rail, heavy transport, mining, construction, agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is a sponsor of the summit, which will attract industry and government involved in bioenergy from across the nation.

Agriculture and Food Minister Jackie Jarvis will open the summit, profiling the State Government’s efforts to facilitate the development of the low carbon fuels industry and how it will support decarbonisation.

DPIRD is sponsoring a session on the role of a low carbon liquid fuel industry in decarbonisation and economic development.

WA Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Reece Whitby, will discuss how the State Government is supporting the decarbonisation of WA’s major industries which rely on liquid fossil fuels.

Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts Assistant Secretary Brendon Buckley will give a presentation on the role of low carbon fuels in achieving net zero emissions.

CSIRO senior research scientist Dr Cathryn O'Sullivan will examine the feedstock opportunity for a low carbon fuel industry, while Deloitte policy specialist James Boyle will explore the economic upside for jobs and regional development.

Program sessions include global drivers for sustainable aviation fuel and developing a domestic aviation fuel industry, developing a domestic low carbon liquid fuel industry and unlocking a renewable liquid fuels sector for WA.

The summit is a unique opportunity to gain in depth insights into these important emerging low carbon technologies, including the current regulatory and policy landscape.

Bioenergy Australia Chief Executive Officer Shahana McKenzie said the organisation and its sponsors were delighted to bring the important, national summit to Perth.

The Bioenergy Australia ‘Western Australia Low Carbon Fuels Summit’ will be held on Friday, 11 October at Beaumonde on the Point. For more information and to register visit https://www.bioenergyaustralia.org.au/events/252852.
