The 2024 regional Heritage Conference is jointly presented by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage, the Heritage Council of Western Australia and the City of Albany.

Presented by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage, the Heritage Council of Western Australia and the City of Albany, this year’s two-day conference will explore the theme ‘Destinations, connections and shared culture’ through three sub-themes:

  • How places and milestones are made meaningful, reimagined and represented
  • Shared culture: valuing all perspectives
  • Albany’s heritage as a destination and looking forward.

The program offers a unique opportunity to examine our state’s heritage from diverse perspectives, making it a valuable experience for all interested in Western Australian heritage and culture.

Those not able to attend in person are encouraged to register for the online sessions on Thursday 24 October, ensuring everyone can benefit from the valuable insights and discussions. 

This free event is suitable for all those with an interest in Western Australia’s heritage and culture.

Special events:

  • Welcome and networking: Join us on the evening of Wednesday 23 October 2024 at Strawberry Hill at Barmup, hosted by the National Trust of Australia (WA). Enjoy refreshments, meet fellow delegates and explore the unique grounds of Strawberry Hill at Barmup. 
  • Presentations and talks: Thursday 24 October will feature a series of presentations and talks delivered in person in Albany and streamed online. More information can be found here.
  • Exploration day: Friday 25 October offers participants the chance to delve into the region’s cultural heritage through optional tours, practical workshops and events.
