On Monday 28 October, the 2024 WA Innovators of the Year Awards ceremony celebrated and recognised the outstanding Western Australians developing innovative products, technologies, and services.
The event was attended by 250 people and hosted at The Westin. During the ceremony, the 6 winners and 2 runner-ups were announced and presented with their trophies.

The Honourable Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Innovation and the Digital Economy, announced that in 2025, a new category focusing on youth will be added to the awards program.
Our Patron, Winthrop Professor Fiona M Wood AO, Director of the Burns Service of WA and Director of the Fiona Wood Foundation, highlighted the importance of a mindset focused on finding solutions for the future and that the awards inspire and recognise the vibrant, innovative community in WA, which not only enriches the region but also shapes industries and influences global innovation for a sustainable future.
The ceremony was attended by this year's finalists as well as key stakeholders in the startup and innovation industry; members of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation Aboriginal Business, Trade and Investment Advisory Board; the Regional Innovation Advisory Group; the recently formed Innovation Advisory Board; and the State Funded Innovation Hubs.
Notable guests on the evening included the Honourable Wilson Tucker, MLC, Member for Mining and Pastoral Region; Professor Lyn Beazley AO; Professor Clare Pollock, Vice Chancellor of Edith Cowan University; Rebecca Brown, Director General of Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and Christine Laird, Assistance Commissioner of Rehabilitation and Reintegration, Department of Justice and Sarah Caroll, representing Rio Tinto, the Primary Sponsor of the 2024 WA Innovators of the Year program.
Applications for the 2025 awards will be opening next year.
