About

The Manjimup Hotel, was a recipient from round 1 of the Community Small Grants Fund, which aims to support community groups and businesses within Western Australia's native forest regions.

Through the CSGF up to $100,000 of funding is available for sustainable projects that aim to create jobs, expand and diversify the local economy, and create liveable communities through services, infrastructure, tourism and events.

Background:

The Manjimup Hotel, situated in the Manjimup area, is described as the gateway to the Southern Forests. They promise their guests the full South West experience, including local foods and wines.

Approach:

The Manjimup Hotel was able to use their Community Small Grants Fund grant to restore the venues interior while maintaining its original 1970's design. The many improvements and additions they made will work to provide a better experience for their guests that are visiting the region.

Outcome:

"This grant will enable us to rejuvenate the Manjimup Hotel's iconic Winter Court Brewery room, creating an interactive tourism-based experience that will allow visitors to actively participate in brewing, distilling & cider production."

They were also able to make visual improvements to the street frontage to increase the venue's visual prominence, and significantly improve the appearance of the hotel from the main street.

"We are extremely excited about the opportunity. This grant was a simple process and I encourage anyone that believes they can create an exciting and economic benefit for the region [to apply]."
