Last updated:

The 2024 program will see a record number of finalists compete in Western Australia's Innovators of the Year awards.

The awards program is in its 18th year and recognises WA innovators and creative minds across 6 categories that are addressing real world challenges.

Some of this year's innovations include a smart device to monitor Intravenous (IV) therapy to detect leaks outside of the intended vein, plastic made from farmed seaweed and a renewable energy platform technology which uses ocean waves to create electricity.

Winners from 5 of the 6 award categories will share in an increased prize fund worth $240,000. Each winner from the Emerging and Growth categories will take home $60,000. There will also be prize funds for 2 runners up, and 3 platinum award categories.

This year has also seen the addition of a sixth category for innovation in the public sector, the WA Government Innovators of the Year. Expressions of Interest for the category opened on Thursday 30 May and close at 11:00am (AWST) Wednesday 31 July 2024.

The winners across all categories will be announced at an awards ceremony later this year.
