
This week, the Minister for International Education, the Hon. David Templeman, hosted and celebrated a total of 24 outstanding Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship (the Scholarship) recipients and Premier’s WACE Bursary (the WACE Bursary) recipients at the International Student Scholarship Awards Ceremony.
The event was emceed by Simone Spencer, Deputy Director General of Strategy and International Engagement at JTSI, followed by a Welcome to Country by Ingrid Cumming and a welcome address delivered by Minister Templeman.
Minister Templeman proudly presented certificates to 7 Scholarship recipients and 5 WACE Bursary recipients who were in attendance.
The successful recipients had an opportunity to network with key representatives from each education provider, officials from the Consular Corps from the respective countries, the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) and StudyPerth who attended the awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the recipients.
The Scholarship provides successful international students with $50,000 towards course fees and other university costs. The Scholarship aims to attract high-performing international students to each of Western Australia’s 5 universities. Scholarships are awarded to 2 successful international students at each of Western Australia’s 5 universities each year until 2026, providing for a total of 10 scholarships per year.
The 2024 Scholarship recipients hail from Bhutan, India, Kenya, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Nepal were successful in receiving the prestigious Scholarship to support their studies at a Western Australian university.

The WACE Bursary provides up to 50 successful international WACE graduates with a one-off $20,000 payment towards their living, travel and study expenses. The WACE Bursary is provided to support international WACE graduates who commence undergraduate studies in-person at one of Western Australia's 5 universities or are on a pathway to university at a Western Australian tertiary pathway provider.
