The 2024 Western Australian Heritage Awards received 55 outstanding nominations celebrating the state’s rich heritage.

This year, 10 winners, including the prestigious Judges’ Award, were recognised for their exceptional contributions to heritage conservation, interpretation, tourism and adaptive reuse. Highlighting the quality of the nominations, seven commendations were also awarded. These projects and initiatives highlighted the creativity, dedication and passion driving the preservation and celebration of Western Australia’s unique heritage. 

Voluntary Individual Contribution

Winner: 

  • Yolanda Cool, Chief Executive Officer, Heritage Skills Association WA

Commendation:

  • Patricia Morris AM JP, Volunteer, City of Gosnells
  • Anne Chapple, Secretary, Friends of ANZAC Cottage
  • Morrie Russell, Volunteer, Narrogin 

Professional Contribution

Joint Winners: 

  • Philip Griffiths, Former Principal, Griffiths Architects
  • Nerida Moredoundt, Associate – Heritage, Element Advisory 

Contribution by an Organisation

Winner:

  • WreckSploration 

Interpretation Project

Winner of the Professor David Dolan Award: 

  • Living Water Heritage - River, Land and Sea Country of the West Kimberley

Commendation:

  • Sheiks, Fakes and Cameleers
  • Esperance Historic Homesteads Documentary Series 

Heritage Tourism

Winner:

  • Stories Unseen

Commendation:

  • Lotterywest City of Perth Boorloo Heritage Festival 

Conservation or Adaptive Reuse of a Local Heritage Place

Winner of the Gerry Gauntlett Award:
