The science and technology plan aims to establish WA as a leading global hub for inclusive science and technology research, development, commercialisation and deployment.
Phase 2 of the consultation process to support The Plan, involves a new survey gaining insights from those who work in science, research and technology fields or ordinary Western Australians who live and breathe science. In particular:
- Scientists, researchers and businesses working in a STEM field or with a STEM higher education.
- Educators including research institutes, museums and universities.
- Industry and STEM partners.
The overarching plan aims to investigate solutions to current and future challenges faced by the State, from diversifying and decarbonising the economy, to finding new medical solutions, to improving the quality of life of Western Australians and others around the globe. It also aims to determine priorities for future investment. The Plan will:
- Highlight the importance of science and technology—and associated research and development for the State, the wellbeing of communities, environment and economy.
- Outline the current capabilities and performance of science, technology and research and development in WA, highlighting core strengths.
- Outline WA’s vision, goals and priorities for science and technology for the next 10 years:
- Provide a clear action plan to achieve these goals and priorities.
Submissions close Sunday, 18 February.
