Sport and Recreation Minister Alan Carpenter has announced a grant of $270,000 to the Suburban Nedlands City Hockey Club, under the State Government's Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund.
The grant, to help fund the construction of an artificial turf hockey pitch at Shenton College, was approved by State Cabinet yesterday.
Mr Carpenter said the Suburban Nedlands City Hockey Club was to be commended for its commitment to the provision of quality community leisure facilities.
The CSRFF program provided a very efficient use of taxpayer funds.
"These grants create on-the-ground partnerships between the State Government, local government, and community groups," the Minister said.
The grant to the Suburban Nedlands City Hockey Club was one of 167 grants across the State, totalling just over $9million - an increase of $1.25million over the previous year.
