Senior Constable Glenn Murray received serious head and chest injuries in a police car crash in July 1996 that claimed the life of his colleague Senior Constable Jane Kennaugh.

Senior Constable Murray needed full-time care from the resulting disabilities until he passed away in December, 2022.

Because his death resulted from injuries sustained in on-duty accident, Senior Constable Murray’s name has now been included on the National Memorial Wall in Canberra, as well as the Memorial Wall at the WA Police Academy.

Senior Constable Murray’s widow and their children are attending the service in Canberra, while his sister and her children will pay tribute at the WA Police Academy Chapel.

Police Commissioner Col Blanch and Police Minister Paul Papalia will lead the WA service and lay wreaths for the 89 officers whose names are commemorated on the Memorial Wall facing the Flame of Remembrance.

Police Remembrance Day acknowledges all officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, a solemn reminder of the courage and dedication of those who work each day to keep our community safe.

Blue and white chequered ribbons are worn on Police Remembrance Day to honour fallen police officers.
