A streamlined approach to water and environmental approvals

As the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, we serve as a ‘one stop shop’ to ensure robust regulation, and streamlined processes that meet government, industry and community expectations.

In line with the WA Government’s response to the Independent Review of WA Environmental Approvals Processes and Procedures, the Department is progressing a number of key initiatives, including development of Environment Online to provide a single gateway for regulatory activities.

The WA Government is progressing legislative reforms to the Environmental Protection (EP) Act. To support this a Parallel Decision-Making Policy is available to streamline regulatory practice across government. This policy is subject to the passage of the Environmental Protection Amendment Bill 2024 through Parliament, and will come into operation on a date to be set by proclamation.

If you require multiple environmental and water approvals and would like further information on how to this change may reduce your overall approvals timelines, please contact us on 1800 161 176, or enquire online.
