As part of ensuring a diversified economy that is socially inclusive, in 2020 the Western Australian Government launched the Call Centre and Back Office Processing Scheme (CCBOP) to expand the CCBOP industry in Western Australia, create local jobs and promote sector growth.

The Scheme sought applications for funding assistance from third-party CCBOP operators across two phases, in 2020 and 2022, with the aim to expand the industry in Western Australia, create local jobs and increase the digital capabilities of local operators.

CCBOP operators typically employ high numbers of entry level staff, encourage flexible working conditions and provide long-term employment opportunities. As such, the Scheme was designed to boost employment across a broad demographic, including people with a disability and people seeking part-time employment. This is particularly important for regional communities across Western Australia.

A total of $12.7 million has been committed through the Scheme to four CCBOP operators; Datacom Connect, Oracle Customer Management Solutions, TSA Group, and Royal Life Saving Society WA.

Through the Scheme, more than 550 full-time equivalent jobs have been created in Western Australia and two new CCBOP facilities have been established, including one in the Peel region. Additionally, the Scheme has supported one company to double their Western Australian software development capacity.

The realisation of employment opportunities and other benefits through the Scheme is ongoing, with phases one and two to be completed by June 2026.
