The Investment Attraction Fund (IAF) encourages new investment in Western Australia into a range of industries to diversify our economy and to create local jobs.
The New Energies Industries Funding Stream supports WA’s economic development and the key pillars of diversification and decarbonisation.
Please read the Investment Attraction Fund (IAF) Guidelines in addition to the Applicant Information for this Funding Stream (see below) before submitting an application. Other documents to help you prepare your application are provided in the useful resources section below.
Application and assessment process
A staged application process provides a pathway for industry to submit proposals for financial assistance and investment facilitation support. Listed below is information about the stage or information that will be required from applicants.
Stage 1: Expression of interest (EOI) form submission
The following information is required to enable the evaluation and shortlisting of eligible proposals:
- Applicant information
- Project description and objectives
- Funding request overview
- Alignment to WA’s economic framework (see Diversify WA and Future State: Accelerating Diversify WA)
- Alignment to Applicant Information for this Funding Stream
Stage 2: Review of EOIs
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation:
- May meet with applicants to further discuss their EOI application and;
- Applicants may refine or iterate their application before final submission and assessment
Stage 3: Detailed application form submission
Successful shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a detailed application to define, quantify and provide evidence to support their responses. This includes:
- A business plan
- Partnership status documentation
- Financial statements documentation
- Jobs generation and growth
- How financial assistance of the proposal will benefit the State
The level of detail and information should be relative to the investment size, complexity and grant amount requested.
Stage 4: Award
Funding in the form of a grant or loan will be awarded subject to the signing of a Financial Assistance Agreement (FAA) between the Western Australian Government and the applicant.

Show moreDetails are available in the Investment Attraction Fund Guidelines. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
- Be registered or be eligible to register for an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Be a legal and solvent entity, or partnered with a legal and solvent entity, with a proven trading history for the past 3 financial years as accepted in their domicile (as a minimum)
- Be able to provide a business plan and evidence that supports management, technical and financial capability to undertake the current proposal.

These enable the Panel to evaluate a project’s significance to the State and determine the potential economic impact of the State’s financial contribution.
