No Daylight Saving in WA - Updating Your Computer

The Daylight Saving Trial in Western Australia has now ended, and any extension of Daylight Saving was rejected by referendum.

Computer systems that were adjusted to accommodate time changes during the trial period may require attention to ‘reverse’ and correct the adjustment.

The impact of incorrect settings can range from the incorrect time display on the clock, to calendaring problems, to changes in business critical services that are time dependent.

The period directly affected is between October 25th and March 28th.

For those who rely on their electronic diary:
Even if your organisation has taken steps to address this issue, others that you deal with may not, or may do so at different times. This may result in appointments appearing in your calendar at the wrong time – either 1 hour early or 1 hour late.

Good practice is to include the time of the appointment in the meeting title, and to confirm appointment times with attendees before the scheduled time.

Further Information:
It is suggested that organisations seek further information direct from key vendors to ascertain whether the end of the trial has any implications for ICT systems and, if so, what steps are being taken to address the issues. A number of vendors are listed below:
