STRA is the common name given to holiday homes, units or apartments offered for short-term or short-stay rental.

Short-Term Rental Accommodation Incentive Scheme

The STRA Incentive Scheme offers a $10,000 financial incentive to existing owners of un-hosted short-term rental accommodation properties in Western Australia, to transfer their property to the long-term rental market for at least 12 months to support people seeking a rental home.

Short-Term Rental Accommodation Planning Regulations

Under the new planning regulations and guidelines, hosted STRA will be exempt from requiring planning approval. Local governments will set planning requirements for STRA in the regions (including Peel).

STRA providers in Western Australia must register their property

Under the proposed STRA Register, all providers of STRA within Western Australia, both hosted and un-hosted, will be required to register their property by 1 January 2025.
